Fire Engineering

Fire Engineering Newsletter | September 23, 2009

A firefighter's knowledge must keep pace with changing technology. The transition to new fire codes may mean that new structures in your response district may now contain extremely elaborate smoke control systems, including active systems that allow control of air pressurization, exhaust, and more. Are you adequately trained in the use of these systems? That's the subject of our most recent Roundtable question. E-mail us your responses for possible publication in the January issue of Fire Engineering.

Register now for next week's air management Webcast with Captain Mike Gagliano and Captain Casey Phillips of the Seattle (WA) Fire Department. This free interactive presentation, which features a live Q&A session on September 30, pulls back the screen and lets you peer inside at what "out of air" truly looks like. Visit www.fireengineering.com/webcasts for more info. --Peter Prochilo, Online Editor
